FIELD GUIDE
The story
Fiona Foley's Fishbones stands at Bluewater Quay, on the wharf precinct at Mackay, and Foley is one of the most significant Aboriginal artists working in Australia.
She is a Badtjala woman from Fraser Island – K'gari – whose work has consistently addressed frontier history, dispossession and the things Australian public space prefers not to say. Her public commissions are among the most substantial by any Indigenous artist in the country.
