FIELD GUIDE

The story

This is a twelve-metre stainless steel silo that has spent the last decade pretending to be an aerosol can of whipped cream.
The Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company's factory at Tatuanui, just outside Morrinsville, has a working silo at its gates that was first branded as a Dairy Whip can in 2013. Dairy Whip is Tatua's whipped cream in a pressurised can – real cream from pasture-fed cows, twenty per cent lower in fat than regular liquid cream – and the silo is a very large version of the product made a few metres away.

WHAT TO EXPECT
In April 2026 the iconic 12-metre can received a new design matching Tatua’s refreshed Dairy Whip packaging. It remains outside the Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company factory and is actively recognised as a Waikato photo stop.
ACCESS
Factory-front landmark at Tatua, 3434 State Highway 26. The dairy factory is not established as a public sightseeing venue and no lawful public photo-stop has been verified. Do not route visitors to the factory entrance solely to photograph the can.
