FIELD GUIDE
The story
The bulldog at Theo Hansen Park is a club mascot rather than a tourist attraction, and that is the most common kind of oversized object in Australia and the least catalogued.
It belongs to the Brothers Bulldogs Junior Rugby League club, in Mackay's northern suburbs, and it stands at the ground the club plays on. Nobody drives from another state to see it. Several hundred families see it every winter Saturday, which over a childhood adds up to something a highway landmark never achieves.
