FIELD GUIDE
The story
Manaia is a bread town, and it has a giant loaf at the entrance to prove it.
The Yarrows bakery has been the town's principal employer for generations – a family firm that grew from a small South Taranaki bakery into a substantial operation exporting bread products well beyond New Zealand. In a settlement of this size, that is not one business among many; it is the reason the town has a workforce.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Recent New Zealand Big Things surveys continue to document Manaia’s giant loaf, and contemporary North Island travel coverage still identifies it at the town entrance on State Highway 45.
ACCESS
Big Bread stands at the western Manaia approach on Surf Highway 45. South Taranaki District Council confirms regulated public parking exists within Manaia CBD, so visitors have a lawful town-centre parking option and can approach without stopping on SH45. PBT still withholds direct navigation until one specific parking point is independently map-checked.
