FIELD GUIDE
The story
Its official title is Monolith. Everyone calls it the Big Bread Clip, because that is unmistakably what it is: an enormous version of the small plastic tag that keeps a bread bag closed.
And it is made of bread clips. Thousands of the real things, assembled into a giant one – which lifts the work from a visual gag into something considerably more interesting, since the object depicts itself at two scales simultaneously and the detail only resolves when you get close.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Current specialist public-art sources place Monolith in Johnson Park beside the Arlington light-rail stop. It was installed in 2018 and is treated here as Big Art rather than a traditional roadside Big Thing.
ACCESS
Visit on foot via Johnson Park; Arlington light rail stop is directly beside the park. Use public transport or legal nearby street parking rather than treating the sculpture pin as a vehicle destination.
