Barbadilla (Giant Armadillo)

Roadside America reported on January 3, 2009 that the armadillo had returned to Texas, after the steakhouse owner was invited to Vermont the previous fall. Its account says the armadillo had sat for years on a Vermont lawn where its buyer named it Barbadilla, and that the buyer, who had purchased it from a Texas sculptor about six years earlier, wanted it back in Texas. The one condition was that it keep its name and its "Barbadilla" necklace. The owner told the site it is made of "old tank steel", is roughly 12 times the size of a real armadillo, and is comparable to an Airstream travel trailer. He said some visitors took it for a giant barbecue for the steakhouse, and that he planned at that time to donate it to Buffalo Gap for display in a local park.

A Roadside America tip from 2016 places it in the steakhouse parking lot, and the site dates its time there to 2009. Perini Ranch Steakhouse is at 3002 FM 89, Buffalo Gap. The James Beard Foundation lists the steakhouse among its 2014 America's Classics.
