FIELD GUIDE

The story

Alabama's Gulf Coast has a fiberglass Stonehenge replica in the pine woods, reached by a short walk from an unmarked gravel lot.
Bamahenge stands near Barber Marina, close to Elberta in Baldwin County. The Encyclopedia of Alabama says artist Mark Cline created it in 2012 for George Barber, who also owns the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham. Lagniappe reported in 2014 that it had been erected in spring 2013. Cline had already built a foam Stonehenge at Natural Bridge, Virginia, and told the paper that Barber first wanted a version for his motorsports park east of Birmingham before redirecting the work to the marina.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Islands (February 2025) describes the marina-road attractions as free. No opening hours are published for the site, so treat access as unconfirmed.
ACCESS
On the Barber Marina access road off Fish Trap Road, Elberta (the marina's address is 26986 Fish Trap Rd). A small gravel lot with no sign marks the start of a rock-and-dirt path of roughly 200 yards into the woods; the grass at the monument is bumpy, and a 2025 visitor guide advises insect repellent and leashed pets.
