This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
Atoms in Space is a fifteen-foot-tall sculpture by artist David Cianni on the front lawn of the SRS Heritage Museum (formerly the DuPont/Savannah River Site interpretive museum) in downtown Aiken, South Carolina. The sculpture was inspired by the production of plutonium-238 -- the radioactive isotope that has powered US solar system exploration missions -- at the nearby Savannah River Site nuclear reservation. It is illuminated at night by four spotlights embedded in its base and is one of eight public art installations documented in the 'Aiken Through Art' brochure managed by Leadership Aiken County.
