This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
World's Wonder View Tower is a six-story concrete observation tower near Genoa, Colorado, which CBS Colorado (April 2026) describes as 65 feet tall. CBS reports that Charles Gregory opened a gas station and cafe along Highway 24 in 1926 and had the concrete tower built in 1930. The owners say Ripley's Believe It or Not promised that six states could be seen from the top; CBS says Ripley's certified the claim in 1933. A group of Colorado locals took on the site in 2016, and the tower held a reopening weekend on 1-2 May 2026 with reserved timed-entry tickets required that weekend.

FIELD GUIDE

The story

Out on Colorado's Eastern Plains, a 65-foot concrete tower promoted for its view of six states reopened in May 2026 after a ten-year restoration.
A 2026 CBS Colorado report says Charles Gregory opened a gas station and cafe along Highway 24 in 1926, and that by 1930 crews had built the concrete tower. The owners' history says Gregory created a rock complex with a cafe, stage and gas station, later adding guest rooms and the tower. The owners also say that Ripley's Believe It or Not promised in the 1930s that you could see six states from the top; CBS says Ripley's certified in 1933 that Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, New Mexico and South Dakota were visible.
