FIELD GUIDE

The story

Texas has an answer to West Virginia's claim to the world's largest teapot, and it sits beside Highway 6 outside a garden store and café in Navasota. KBTX reported in May 2025 that the teapot at Martha's Bloomers has been a staple of the town since 2003. KBTX said the teapot had set the world record, though the store's own website says only that it is one of the largest in the world, and the station reported that the store would still submit it to Guinness World Records. KBTX gave the body as 15 feet 4 inches tall and 14 feet 4 inches in diameter, not counting its base, handle or spout. The store's market and product development director told the station that the handle adds about six feet and the spout about seven. According to KBTX the store's owner saw Chester, West Virginia, advertise a teapot as the world's largest, and decided to build a bigger one. KBTX described Chester as its closest competitor. The teapot is a roadside draw: the director told KBTX that visitors come from Houston, Austin, Columbus and Waco, some by the busload.
