The story
A 30-foot tan-and-green pistachio marks McGinn's PistachioLand on US 54/70 at the north end of Alamogordo. New Mexico Magazine, in a post last updated on 20 March 2026, says owner Timothy McGinn had it made in memory of his father, Thomas McGinn, who died in 2007.
According to the magazine, local craftsman Ernest Martinez built it. It took roughly four months to build a steel framework, and the sculpture uses iron pipes, wire netting, cement and paint.
