Leonard 'Sonny' Miller, owner of Miller's Office Supply, built a giant office chair in a vacant lot beside his Anniston store in 1981 to attract attention to his business, modeling it on an office chair from the HON Company and simply converting the original's inches into feet. Constructed of ten tons of steel, Guinness World Records recognized it as the World's Largest Chair in 1982; though later surpassed by taller chairs elsewhere, it retains recognition as the World's Largest Office Chair and remains a well-known Anniston landmark.
