The story
On International Drive, in Orlando's tourist district, a McDonald's is billed as the "World's Largest Entertainment McDonald's". A McDonald's has stood at the corner of International Drive and Sand Lake Road since 1976, according to property records cited by ClickOrlando. The original restaurant closed in 2015 and the new building reopened in March 2016, ClickOrlando having reported on 11 March that it was set to reopen the following Monday.
Attractions Magazine, reporting on the opening in March 2016, said the new facade rises 48 feet and the interior covers 18,716 square feet, including a 22-foot-tall play structure with slides, tunnels and climbing features and a 2,000-square-foot arcade. It also described a 30-foot illuminated Ronald McDonald and a singing animatronic of Mac Tonight, the chain's moon-headed spokesman from the 1980s. ClickOrlando described the expansion in 2016 as 19,000 square feet; in 2025 it put the restaurant at nearly 20,000 square feet over two floors, nicknamed "Epic McD".
