The Weather Machine is a 33-foot metal column topped with a large silver orb, installed in 1988 at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. Each day at noon it presents a forecast by revealing a golden leaf for clear skies, a silver great blue heron for drizzle and overcast, or an open-mouthed dragon for storms.
