A 24-foot-tall marlin flying skyward, carved from the trunk of a live oak killed by Hurricane Katrina's saltwater surge, with three mahi jumping alongside and a sea turtle and blue crab at the base. Carved by Florida wood sculptor Marlin Miller (finished in late April 2009), it was his final piece in a series of memorial tree sculptures lining US Highway 90 in Biloxi -- a creative tribute to the storm-killed oaks that once shaded the scenic highway -- and the only painted sculpture among them.
