"The Falcon" is a monumental stainless-steel-and-bronze sculpture at Gate 2 of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, created in 2017 by Hungarian sculptor Gabor Miklos Szoke and his 150-member team (working in Budapest and Atlanta) under a commission from Atlanta Falcons/Atlanta United owner Arthur M. Blank. With a 70-foot wingspan, it is described by the stadium's own art collection as the largest avian sculpture in the world, surpassing the artist's previous record for Europe's largest equine statue. The design is meant to embody the qualities Georgia teacher Julia Elliott described when she won the 1965 contest to name the team: pride, dignity, courage and fighting spirit.
