FIELD GUIDE
The story
A giant ice cream cone sits beside Tylersville Road in West Chester, Ohio, and it came from Florida.
The business began in 1973 as a small store, K&W Creamy Whip, in the Lockland-Reading area north of Cincinnati, founded by Ken and Louella Wren. Their son, the previous owner, writes on the shop's history page that the family wanted something different for a new store in West Chester and found it in Florida, where his parents spotted a cone building for sale while on vacation. The family drove down the next week to buy it and haul it back to Ohio. The page dates the construction to 1993 and says there were many delays because of the unusual undertaking, and The Cone opened on its new site in July 1995.
