Known locally as 'the Sputnik' for its resemblance to the Soviet satellite, a large rotating Roto-Sphere neon sign has marked Joe's Wines & Liquor in Midtown Memphis since the 1960s. Protected as a landmark by the surrounding historic district, the sign was restored and reinstalled in May 2021 after repair work by Balton Sign Co.
