Skate Park (16 ft sculpture, Woodstock Skate Park)

A sculpture of silhouetted wheeled riders was installed at Woodstock Skate Park in Virginia Beach. Skate Park, by Virginia artist Jeff L. Hall, was installed in March 2024, according to the city's April 2024 arts blog, and is about 16 feet tall. The city public-art office described it as having an abstract, lighted base themed on wheel treads that supports stacked rings framing energised silhouettes of people skateboarding, roller blading, scootering and BMX biking. It said the work reflects the colours and atmosphere of the park and is designed to be viewed from any angle. Hall told VOA in 2023 that Virginia Beach ran a national competition and that his design won; he described the work, then in progress, as cold-rolled steel with a lit base, while the city's gallery page lists steel and UV-protected fiberglass. The sculpture was the park's second public artwork, following murals by Brendan Tierney in 2021.
