FIELD GUIDE

The story

Downtown Las Vegas announces itself with two showgirls, each 50 feet tall, at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Main Street near The STRAT. YESCO built the signs for the City of Las Vegas, and the city said they would light up for the first time at dusk on 31 August 2022.
They replaced an earlier pair. The city put the original showgirls at 25 feet tall, while News 3 gave 26. FOX5 reported that the showgirls, together with dice and a roulette table painting, had welcomed visitors to downtown since August 2018, and KTNV described the old figures as installed in 2018. The Neon Museum, writing in December 2025, dates the smaller showgirls to the early 2000s. The city, FOX5, News 3 and KTNV agree that the originals came down for refurbishment after weather damage. FOX5 said they would move to a sign near the Arts District, KTNV to the corner of 4th Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, and the Neon Museum says they were restored and relocated to the Arts District.
