"Rise of the Midgard Serpent" by artist Marc Rosenthal, installed in Lake Woodlands near Southshore Park in 1985 -- a 35-foot-long, 6-foot-high welded-steel-and-recycled-pipe sea-serpent sculpture (built from Hughes Tool & Die materials) that is the longest single art piece in The Woodlands and its only sculpture sited in water. Best viewed from a kayak or from The Woodlands Parkway Bridge, it has become one of the community's most recognizable public-art landmarks.
