FIELD GUIDE

The story

Life-sized dinosaur figures loom over the putting greens at Professor Hacker's Dinosaur Adventure Golf, on Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach. The attraction has two 18-hole courses, the Raptor and the T. Rex, laid out among jungle scenery and waterfalls, and an 85-foot steamship, the R.S. Jurassic Explorer, which the operator describes as a shipwreck. A reviewer who played in 2019 found the ship used both as theming and as part of a hole.
The setting follows a fictional story. According to the attraction, the explorer Professor Duffer A. Hacker crash-landed a hot-air balloon in a canyon in 1930 and found creatures thought to be extinct. Amusement Today reported in 2025 that Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf, the company behind the attraction, began with a single course in North Myrtle Beach in 1995 and now has 12 locations. Explore North Myrtle Beach's 2026 guide to the town's mini-golf courses includes the Dinosaur Adventure course.
