'The Man Slopping Pigs,' a cast-aluminum statue of a man feeding four pigs, stands on West Broad Street (VA Route 7) outside Don Beyer Volvo in Falls Church, Virginia. Sculpted by artist Richard (Rich) Beyer and dedicated May 6, 1984, the piece pays tribute to the Beyer family's hog-raising history at Springhill Farm in McLean; it cost about $25,000 to build. The same sculptor and dealership also later installed a related piece nearby on Gordons Street, 'Man Eating Dog Food' (life-sized, cast aluminum, installed 2012), depicting a seated man eating from a can, with a tail suggesting he is slowly turning into a dog.
