The story

The Jack Rabbit Trading Post, at Joseph City, Arizona, has traded since 1949, and KFDA marked its 77th year in June 2026. Its "HERE IT IS" billboard is the shop's best-known sign. Legends of America says the founder and a partner plastered billboards along Route 66 as far as Springfield, Missouri, to draw drivers in.
Legends of America says the founder bought a building that had been a snake farm, then painted it up with dancing chiefs and jackrabbits along the roofline. Inside the door sat a three-foot composition jackrabbit, and many visitors, the site says, were photographed atop it as children. The big fibreglass rabbit outside is a later arrival: the co-owner described it to Route 66 News in 2019 as 34 years old, and it was repainted and repaired, including its saddle steps, ahead of the shop's 70th-anniversary party.
