FIELD GUIDE
The story
A four-and-a-half-metre human figure lies on its side above a lake trail, and the title is a question rather than a statement.
Ivan Vostinar made How Do I Relate With Nature, and Whanganui District Council opened it in 2023 at Bason Botanic Gardens, overlooking the Lakeside Trail. It is deliberately scaled up – a reclining person at a size that makes an ordinary human walking past feel like part of the landscape rather than the subject of it.
