The Bangor Daily News reported in September 2024 that the carton had been freshly painted and reinstalled the year before, and described it as a testament to the 1938 founding of Aroostook's first pasteurising dairy. A caption in the same article says the marker commemorates the familiar orange, black and white milk carton.
The article appeared as the dairy announced it would stop processing white milk by the end of September 2024, after 43 years under the Lincoln family. It said the company would keep making ice cream, butter and lemonade, and that its seasonal dairy bars in Houlton, Presque Isle and Caribou would continue.
