This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
An 8-foot-tall bronze Horned Frog sculpture atop an 8-foot polished pedestal, standing guard outside Texas Christian University's Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth. Designed by Texas artist Angela de la Vega and installed in 2013 as part of the stadium's renovation, the sculpture depicts TCU's mascot animal. Real Texas horned lizards are only about 4-7 inches long, so this bronze figure -- roughly 15-20 times life-size -- is dramatically oversized regardless of any exact benchmark. Distinct from TCU's separate, older 1984 welded-metal 'Lucky Horned Frog' sculpture between Reed and Sadler Halls, and from a further, smaller frog sculpture between Scharbauer and Reed Halls.
