WHAT TO EXPECT
Astrotourism WA and the Shire of Menzies currently promote the Giant Planisphere at the Mount Owen Observing Site on Menzies Cemetery Road. A 29 August 2026 Shire event confirms the Stargazing Pad remains an active public venue. Audit checking found that PBT’s stored -29.68364, 121.02508 point is the mapped Mount Owen summit/peak, not the planisphere or observing pad.
ACCESS
Use the designated Mount Owen Observing Site on Menzies Cemetery Road, at the base on the northeast side of the hill as directed by the Shire. The current stored coordinate is retained only as a coarse Mount Owen landform reference and must not be treated as the planisphere, Stargazing Pad or vehicle-arrival coordinate. Direct navigation remains withheld until the actual observing-site geometry is independently pinned.
