The story

Perry's Big Bike was built to make cyclists stop, and nearly ten years on it was repainted and given a new saddle.
The sculpture was installed at the Perry Welcome Depot in Perry, Iowa. According to Raccoon Valley Radio in October 2016, local artist Cheri Scheib and a friend came up with the idea shortly after the Fourth of July that year. With help from the Wiese Corporation, funds from the Perry Chamber drawn from hotel/motel tax money, and donated materials, it was moved to the Welcome Depot by forklift on a Monday in early October. Scheib told KCCI that the parts mostly came from Iowa, including tires from a recycling center and piping from an old Hy-Vee.
