Generations is a permanent outdoor sculpture installation by Richard Artschwager (1990) along University Avenue outside the Chazen Museum of Art (formerly the Elvehjem Building) on the UW-Madison campus. Three paired sets of an evergreen tree and a Plexiglas sphere or dome are arranged in a progression across a site given as 32 x 60 x 155 feet; the tallest tree is fabricated from steel and aluminum and raised on stainless steel columns, while the other two trees are living.
