This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
An enormous chrome owl sculpture, wings outspread as if preparing to perch or pounce, one of roughly two dozen scrap-metal sculptures at Eclectic Menagerie Park along the edge of Texas Pipe and Supply's 108-acre pipe yard, Houston. The park began in 1987 when a concrete hippo mysteriously appeared on the site; most pieces (including this owl) were made by longtime Texas Pipe and Supply welder Ron Lee (a 50+-year employee who passed away in 2017), from repurposed pipes, cranes, and other industrial equipment. The owl is one piece within the larger park.
