A bronze statue of Duke Dog, the official mascot of the James Madison University Dukes, stands outside the Plecker Athletic Performance Center by Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Created by sculptor Lee Leuning in 2005, the statue weighs 2,100 pounds and measures 7 feet 6 inches wide and more than 6 feet tall -- well over life-size for the bulldog character it depicts. It was commissioned with gifts from University Outpost owners Rick and Christine Johnston and Jeff and Karen Wolter.
