FIELD GUIDE
The story
A Muffler Man was photographed holding a giant toothbrush outside a dental office in Blue Ridge, Georgia, in 2023, but he began life advertising a muffler-bending machine on a Chicago roof.
He is a Mr. Bendo, a type of Muffler Man. The American Giants Muffler Men blog says a dozen or so of these 21-foot figures were made in the early 1960s by International Fiberglass in Venice, California, to advertise a muffler-bending machine called the Bendo. This one went to Chicago by train and was installed on the roof of a muffler shop on Grand Avenue. On June 18, 2010, a storm knocked everything from the waist up onto the roof, and the head later disappeared.

ACCESS
Reported outside Smile Blue Ridge, 47 Dunbarton Farm Rd, Blue Ridge, GA 30513, on the west side of GA-5 across from the miniature golf course (Roadside America). Roadside America visitors in September 2022 and January 2023 described a pea-gravel base that lets visitors approach the figure, and Roadside America rates the stop 'Worth a Detour'. He stands at a working dental practice, so view him from the roadside or the car park and confirm he is still there before travelling.
