The 'Daily Planet,' a three-story representational globe possibly the largest of its kind in the world, is built into the exterior of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. Part of the globe is pierced by a walkway and the building itself. Its surface -- an enormously detailed satellite-imagery mosaic -- was created by Todd and Bill Ulrich of Worldfx Inc. Inside the globe is a multimedia space used to screen films and lectures about science.
