This Big Thing is recorded for its history. It is no longer at this location, so it is not a stop to plan a trip around.
"Champ," an 800-pound, roughly 24-foot-tall fiberglass Great Dane statue, was built in 1953 for a trailer dealership in Orlando, Florida before being moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1960, where it stood as the mascot outside Great Dane Trailers' corporate office on Lathrop Avenue for decades (restored in 2002) and became a beloved local landmark for residents and visitors alike. In November 2018 the company relocated Champ to its largest manufacturing plant in Brazil, Indiana -- the statue's head had to be removed for transport given its height -- where it was reassembled, repainted and reclear-coated.
