FIELD GUIDE

The story

Ohakune already had the biggest vegetable in New Zealand. In 2023 it launched one.
The Carrot Rocket is 5.3 metres of carrot-shaped spacecraft, added to the town's Carrot Adventure Park and unveiled at a launch event documented by Ruapehu District Council. The pun is doing all the work and it is a good one: a carrot is already the right shape for a rocket, tapering to a point, and standing one on its nose converts a root vegetable into a launch vehicle with no modification to the silhouette at all.

ACCESS
This giant vegetable is within Carrotland Adventure Park beside the Big Carrot. The stored object point is the established Big Carrot/Carrotland site anchor rather than a claimed exact centroid for this individual sculpture.
