FIELD GUIDE
The story
A silent trumpet player towers over a corner of Cleveland's Buckeye neighborhood where a parking lot once stood.
The Ohio Outdoor Sculpture database dates the work to 2008 and credits James Simon. It describes a 16-foot statue of a man in a beret playing the trumpet, with a small dog looking up at him. Simon's site calls it a concrete work made with the Buckeye Development Corp, Cleveland Public Art and Park-Works, and says the project turned a parking lot into a pocket park plaza that is home to the annual Buckeye Jazz Festival.
