FIELD GUIDE
The story
Tweed Heads has a prawn about a metre and a half long, and it has the misfortune to live an hour from Ballina.
Ballina's Big Prawn is nine metres and thirty-five tonnes, one of the most famous objects in the country. This one sits in front of a seafood business on Kennedy Drive and measures roughly 1.5 metres from antennule to tail – which makes it, by the standards of the genre, barely larger than an ambitious prawn.
