FIELD GUIDE
The story
Two point seven metres of owl, built out of recycled timber by one man at a men's shed, standing in a community garden.
The Victorian Men's Shed Association confirmed in July 2026 that Big Owl stands permanently in the Sale Community Gardens, constructed from recycled timber by Sale Men's Shed member David Wakefield with project participants, and that it had already captured local imagination and drawn a feature article in the Gippsland press.

ACCESS
Use Seed Community Garden on Montgomery Street as the recommended public pedestrian access anchor. Big Owl stands permanently within the Sale community-garden setting, but the garden coordinate is a site anchor rather than a surveyed sculpture point; use lawful nearby parking and approach on foot.
