FIELD GUIDE

The story

Hazelbrae's Big Nuts sit in front of a five-thousand-tree orchard under the Great Western Tiers, which is a considerably more serious agricultural operation than most Big Things are attached to.
The farm at Hagley Station Lane is described as one of Australia's most productive and innovative hazelnut farms, and the farm gate shop has sold everything hazelnutty from roasted nuts to oil, rocky road and locally made liqueurs. The oversized hazelnut sculptures out the front are the marker for it.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Hazelbrae remains an active producer at 127 Hagley Station Lane and recent visitor material continues to refer to the Big Nuts. Visit Northern Tasmania says the farm shop closed temporarily from May 2026 with reopening planned for September 2027.
ACCESS
Hazelbrae Hazelnuts' farm shop has been closed since 1 May 2026 due to a low harvest, with reopening not expected before September 2027; visits are by arrangement rather than ordinary walk-in access. The stored coordinate is a map-checked site anchor for the Hazelbrae property (127 Hagley Station Lane), not a confirmed position for the giant hazelnut sculptures themselves; direct navigation remains withheld.
