FIELD GUIDE
The story
There is no particular reason for a giraffe to be standing beside the Bruce Highway at Bororen, which is precisely why people remember it.
Most Australian Big Things are at least loosely argumentative: the town grows bananas, so here is a banana; the district farms merinos, so here is a ram. Central Queensland has no giraffes. What Bororen had was a café that called itself the Big Giraffe, and the sculpture is the café's sign – the animal chosen for being memorable rather than for being relevant.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A well-established roadside giraffe sculpture at the former/current Big Giraffe café site, 25 Dougall Street, Bororen. The sculpture remains independently documented in recent travel imagery and current listings; the café’s normal trading status appears variable, so the object and venue status should be treated separately.
ACCESS
The Big Giraffe remains documented at the former Big Giraffe Cafe property at 25 Dougall Street / Bruce Highway, Bororen. The property site is now independently map-checked, but the individual giraffe point and a lawful casual-sightseeing arrival have not been separately verified. The cafe appears closed, so direct navigation remains withheld.
