FIELD GUIDE
The story
Geckomania is a group rather than a single object, and the plural is what makes it work.
The oversized gecko sculptures sit in Broadwater Parklands at Southport, on the Gold Coast, among the swings and seesaws – object-specific documentation in 2022 found them beside the play equipment and recorded active repainting and maintenance underway.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The playful reptile sculptures are part of the park’s family-oriented public-art landscape. Object-specific 2022 documentation found them beside swings and seesaws and recorded active repainting/maintenance, while a 2026 Queensland Things of Interest register still lists the Big Lizards at Broadwater Parklands.
ACCESS
Geckomania's giant lizard sculptures are in Washington Waters Playground at the southern end of Southport's Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, opposite Australia Fair. Drivers should use City of Gold Coast's public Broadwater Carpark inside the parklands (council-published map point -27.9657753, 153.4172077; paid 9am–7pm daily), about 290 m north of the sculptures, then walk south through the parklands. Australia Fair parking across the highway is shopping-centre customer parking and is not the recommended visitor arrival.
