FIELD GUIDE

The story

Guinness recognises it as the world's largest spider sculpture, and you can ride through it.
The funnel-web at Jamberoo Action Park is not a standalone object but the housing for a water thrill ride called Funnel Web – the sculpture and the slide are the same structure, so the spider is architecture with plumbing. That integration is what makes it genuinely unusual. Most Big Things are looked at; a handful can be entered; this one is a ride you go through at speed while inside the animal.
