FIELD GUIDE
The story
Chicken wire and duct tape, sprayed with fibreglass. That is how Chris Sammut built a four-metre chicken.
The method is worth recording because it is the improvised end of the tradition, and it is how a great many of these objects were actually made before anyone was moulding them properly. Wire for the armature, tape to close the surface, fibreglass sprayed over the top to make it weatherproof and rigid – cheap, fast, and entirely adequate for something that only needs to look right from twenty metres.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Government heritage assessment records the long-running sculpture in good condition on restricted private land, while current specialist material confirms it remains visible from the roadside.
ACCESS
The sculpture is on fenced private property. Do not stop on Mount Vernon Road or Mamre Road unless a lawful parking location is independently established.
