FIELD GUIDE
The story
A giant king, in Kings Park, beside a football oval.
The naming is the joke, and it is a good one. Knox City Council confirms Kings Park as an active public recreation reserve undergoing improvements in 2026, and the Victorian Big Things census places the giant king beside the main oval. The exact sculpture pin remains deliberately unresolved, which is the right call for a large reserve where a street address is not a location.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The current Victorian Big Things census identifies the giant king beside the main football oval, while Knox City Council confirms Kings Park is an active public recreation reserve undergoing current improvements in 2026. The exact sculpture pin remains intentionally unresolved.
ACCESS
The Big Chess Piece is beside the main football oval within Kings Park. The previous PBT point was roughly half a kilometre east of the mapped reserve. The replacement point is a map-checked public-park site anchor rather than a surveyed sculpture centroid. Navigate to Kings Park at 11 Willow Road and follow current parking and construction signage.
