The story
The Big Boot has been rescued at least once and moved several times, which for an object of its kind counts as a fortunate life.
It previously stood at Chermside, in Brisbane's northern suburbs, and was saved from redevelopment – the single most common way these objects die. A site changes hands, the new use has no room for a giant boot, and unless somebody makes a decision and pays for a truck, it goes to landfill. Somebody made the decision.
