FIELD GUIDE
The story
The Big Blade is not a model of a wind turbine blade. It is one.
A full-size blade lies along Snowtown's main street at Railway Terrace East, and seeing one at ground level is the point: mounted on a tower a hundred metres up, a blade reads as slender and almost delicate, and only on the ground does its actual length and mass become comprehensible. Modern turbine blades are among the largest single moulded components manufactured anywhere.
The monument earns its place. The ranges around Snowtown carry one of the largest concentrations of wind generation in South Australia, and the state has moved further and faster into wind and solar than almost any comparable grid in the world – from a coal-dependent system to one running for long stretches entirely on renewables. Snowtown sits in the middle of that transition physically and economically.
It also belongs to a small and honest subgenre: the industrial component displayed as a monument, alongside Big Lizzie at Red Cliffs and the Steiger Vortex guns at Charleville. These are not representations of anything. They are the actual working object, retired and set up where people can look at it.
Wakefield Regional Council and South Australia Tourism both direct visitors to it, so it is a deliberate town landmark rather than a piece of industrial leftover.
Snowtown is otherwise nationally known for something entirely unrelated and considerably grimmer, and the town has spent decades being defined by it. A monument to a modern industry it actually hosts is a reasonable thing to want.

ACCESS
The Big Blade stands in the reserve at the Fourth Street / Railway Terrace East intersection in Snowtown, directly opposite the Soldiers' Memorial Hall and rose garden. Independent sources (an addressed memorial listing and an independent site description) confirm this intersection, and normal kerbside parking on the wide town-centre terrace right at this corner is a genuine, lawful arrival point -- no separate off-street car park is needed.
The Big Blade monument location is verified, but a specific lawful Snowtown town-centre parking/arrival coordinate has not yet been independently map-checked.
