FIELD GUIDE
The story
Club Kotara had an eleven-metre tower. In 2026 it became an enormous beer can.
The conversion was deliberate and openly announced as a new Australian Big Thing – a club taking an existing vertical structure on its site and reskinning it as the product it sells. That puts it in the small but growing category of Big Things made by repainting infrastructure rather than fabricating a sculpture, alongside the Marrickville brewery silo and the Mourquong wine cask.
