FIELD GUIDE

The story

There is a large barramundi in the grounds of a Darwin primary school, and it is by the same hand as several of the Territory's better-known oversized animals.
Techy Masero made it. Masero was born in Chile in 1954 and has lived in Darwin since 1985, and his work includes the mosaic turtle at Lyons and George the Croc – which makes him one of the more prolific makers of large public animals in the Northern Territory, and a rare case of a single identifiable artist behind multiple entries in this catalogue.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Current Big Things sources continue to identify the Wanguri barramundi as a Techy Masero work on school grounds. It is distinct from the commercial Big Barramundi in Katherine.
ACCESS
Primary-school-site artwork. Treat as view-only from appropriate public space; do not direct visitors onto school grounds or to school parking.
