FIELD GUIDE
The story
It is a Lady Williams, which is a considerably more specific claim than most giant fruit makes.
The 7.5-metre fibreglass apple near Donnybrook depicts a named cultivar rather than a generic apple, and the choice is exactly right. Lady Williams was discovered as a chance seedling near Donnybrook in the 1930s – a Western Australian original that became commercially significant in its own right and, crossed with Golden Delicious, produced Pink Lady, one of the most successful apple varieties ever bred anywhere.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The Big Apple is historically associated with the former Big Apple Tourist and Wildlife Park / Big Apple Farmstay at 186 Grist Road. Current September 2026 property marketing describes the 40.6 ha property as being used for cattle breeding and offered for sale, so PBT no longer describes the farmstay as an operating visitor business. Current evidence does not establish whether the Big Apple itself has been removed.
ACCESS
Treat this as a private-property attraction with uncertain current visitor status. The property at 186 Grist Road is currently marketed for sale and is not treated as an operating public attraction. Do not enter or navigate onto the property unless current lawful visitor access is independently established.
